Fox News Refuses to Run MoveOn Ad About Fox News
Washington, D.C. – Fox News has refused to run MoveOn’s ad “Lied to You,” which quotes recently released emails and text messages from Fox News executives and hosts showing they intentionally presented false allegations about election fraud, during reporting on the 2020 presidential election results, to keep ratings and profits up. The ad references the private negative reactions of Fox News stars and execs to the conspiracy theories spouted by Trump allies in their attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and undermine democracy, though they ultimately chose to put those allies on the air, as exposed through Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit against Fox News.
“Fox News lies to its viewers every single day, and the bombshell reporting of the Dominion lawsuit is the latest proof of that,” said MoveOn Civic Action Executive Director Rahna Epting. “They are nothing more than a political propaganda machine that platforms conspiracy theories and outright lies. They knew their broadcasts about the 2020 election “Big Lie” were just that—a big lie. Since Fox News continues to avoid coverage of this exposé and refuses to run our ad, we’re releasing this to the public to ensure the truth about Fox News gets heard by more audiences, especially its own viewers.”
MoveOn members are also engaging in a campaign encouraging cable viewers to demand that their cable operators make Fox News an optional channel instead of a required part of their cable packages.
