MoveOn Calls for Democrats to Reject Trump-Era Anti-Asylum Border Policies
Executive Director Rahna Epting: “Donald Trump and his MAGA allies wrote the playbook on cruel and inhumane immigration policies, and the Biden administration should reject any measures that tear families apart and gut our country’s values and morals.”
Washington, D.C. – Following reporting that the White House is considering harmful, Trump-era asylum policies as part of the foreign aid funding negotiations, MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and his MAGA allies wrote the playbook on cruel and inhumane immigration policies, and the Biden administration should reject any measures that tear families apart and gut our country’s values and morals. We know that Senate Republicans won’t hesitate to use this funding fight to advance their extremist agenda, and Senate Democrats cannot concede to their immoral politics. President Biden and Democrats in Congress have to create a clear contrast between Trump’s horrific legacy and the Democrats’ vision for meaningful immigration reform, including establishing a legal pathway to citizenship and welcoming asylum seekers.”
