Flanagan Victory in Minnesota Shows Growing Momentum for Bold, Progressive Agenda
Voters continue to choose leaders who will fight Trump’s unpopular agenda on ICE, healthcare, and war.
SAINT PAUL, Minn.—In response to Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan decisively winning her primary race to become the Democratic candidate for the open U.S. Senate seat in Minnesota, MoveOn Political Action Chief Communications Officer Joel Payne released the following statement:
“Minnesota Democrats voted for Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan because they know she will fight like hell to get them the healthcare they need, to get ICE off their streets, and to get corrupt, corporate money out of our politics. She has spent her career delivering for working families, standing with immigrant communities, and taking on systems that leave people behind. MoveOn members came out for Flanagan because they know she’ll continue that fight in the United States Senate.”
MoveOn Political Action’s endorsement and support of Flanagan was a central part of its largest intervention in Democratic primaries to date. Flanagan’s victory is one of a number of wins for populist candidates who rejected corporate and AIPAC money and centered their campaigns on affordability, Medicare for All, and delivering for working families. MoveOn members will continue organizing to defeat Republican nominee Lisa Demuth and elect Flanagan to the Senate in November.
