Tim Keller’s Unwavering, Unapologetic Faith Bore Fruit

New York magazine once described Tim Keller’s founding of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City as “close to a theological suicide mission” for having the audacity “to create a strictly conservative Christian church in the heart of Sodom.” Only Tim Keller wasn’t eager for the assignment. In fact, he turned down the invitation and attempted to recruit two other pastors for the church plant, which was born out of a wildly successful dinner ministry hosted by Nancy DeMoss, widow of Art DeMoss, a mail-order insurance mogul. Keller previously had pastored…

Biden, Schumer ‘Backed Off Their Idea’ to Not Negotiate, McCarthy Says

President Joe Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., “have finally backed off their idea that they won’t negotiate” on the debt ceiling, according to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. “They finally backed off the insane, un-rational, un-sensible idea that you just raise the debt ceiling,” McCarthy said at a joint press conference on Wednesday with Republican lawmakers in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. “The president’s selected two individuals, the [Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young] and [counselor to the president Steve] Ricchetti, to sit down…

Mother’s Day Presents an Opportunity to Honor and Stand Up for Real Women

It’s a man’s world again. We’ve won. We’ve seized women’s sports, parenting titles, and Woman of the Year and Prom Queen awards. The gals were making headway there for a while, but now the men are back on top. I can still remember them, although their memory fades by the day—actual women, that is. Once upon a time, women had domains all to themselves, free from male interference—their own sports, doctors, locker rooms, and dressing rooms. Not to mention achievements such as “first female four-star officer of the U.S. Public…

‘Nothing Has Changed’ Since Feb. 1 Meeting, McCarthy Says on Debt Ceiling

President Joe Biden met with Republican and Democrat leaders Tuesday to discuss the debt ceiling as the U.S. could “run out of cash” in less than a month. Biden met with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.; Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.; Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.; and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y. at the White House. Biden and McCarthy previously met on Feb. 1. “Nothing has changed since then. The only thing that has changed is the House has raised the debt ceiling and passed the bill. That’s why we…

EXCLUSIVE: Biden Bribery Allegation Could Mean Impeachment, Republican Policy Chair Says

Impeachment is the only recourse if a government whistleblower’s allegation that President Joe Biden was part of a bribery scheme is true, said Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., chairman of the Republican Policy Committee.  “You can’t prosecute a sitting president for crimes, so the only recourse—if this document exists, and we believe it does—is for the House to bring articles of impeachment,” Palmer told The Daily Signal in a phone interview Friday.  Palmer stressed that members of Congress need to see an FBI document that the unnamed whistleblower says alleges a…

How Biden’s Plan to Penalize Responsible Homebuyers Could Ravage Retirement Savings by $31,000

The Federal Housing Finance Authority just announced it will hike the loan-level pricing adjustment  fee on homebuyers  with high credit scores and redistribute those funds to borrowers with low credit scores. That’s not an insignificant change. Under the new loan-level pricing adjustment matrix, a borrower with a 740 FICO score and a down payment of just under 20% will pay a 1% loan-level pricing adjustment fee. That’s quadruple the prior risk assessment of 0.25%. At the same time, the loan-level pricing adjustment fee for many borrowers with bad credit will…
