Something Worse Likely After Ukraine War

The Ukraine mess is daily looking more like the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939, a meat grinder that took 500,000 lives. That three-year conflict became a savage proxy war and prelude for the belligerents of World War II. Now, a year after Russia’s invasion, the Ukraine battlefield is proving to be a similar laboratory of death. New lethal weaponry and tactics are introduced, modified—and always improved—from drones to guided missiles to internet-fed artillery. Likewise, a similar pre-global war lineup of the eventual adversaries is emerging in preview of…

Well-Intentioned AmeriCorps Now Rotten to Core After Falling to Woke Left

AmeriCorps, an independent federal agency that provides stipends for more than 5 million Americans who do volunteer work, misled the public on how much it spends in its grant program.  A program launched under President George H.W. Bush, AmeriCorps was expanded under President Bill Clinton and officially became a corps under Bush’s son, President George W. Bush. Today, though, it appears to have become rotten to the core.  The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project recently obtained information showing that AmeriCorps, which received $ 1.1 billion last year in congressional appropriations, purposely misled Americans…

How to Make Journalism Less Trustworthy—in One Problematically Easy Lesson

Journalism is on a suicide mission. As America’s mistrust of media lies near all-time lows, my profession’s powers-that-be are doubling down on the partisan, activist reporting that has poisoned our business and the nation’s politics. It is a “source of concern” when an influx of migrants attempts to enter America illegally from a country “that we…

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL — The Daily Signal filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request this week demanding that the FBI turn over all documents related to “radical traditional Catholics” and the Southern Poverty Law Center, as news broke that the FBI had published an internal memo about “radical traditional Catholics” citing the SPLC, which brands mainstream conservative and Christian nonprofits “hate groups,” putting them on a map with the Ku Klux Klan. Although the FBI has since rescinded the memo, the FOIA request, submitted by the Heritage…

COVID-19 National Emergency Is (Nearly) Over. It’s Time for States to Roll Back Biden’s Welfare Expansion.

The official end of the COVID-19 emergency is near.  That’s good news. It’s now up to the states to finish the job. The House of Representatives voted Feb. 1 on a joint resolution ending the national COVID-19 emergency and a bill to terminate Health and Human Services’ public health emergency declaration. At the same time, the Biden administration has also announced plans to end both of those emergencies in May. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, policymakers took emergency steps to help mitigate its effects. Then-President Donald Trump in…
