House lawmakers push for EEOC to defend furlough threat

Two House lawmakers are pushing the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to explain why it almost had to furlough almost all of its employees and are accusing agency leadership of “severe mismanagement.” Reps. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), the chairwoman of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and Kevin Kiley (R-Calif.), the chairman of the committee’s workforce protections subcommittee, wrote to EEOC Chairwoman Charlotte Burroughs seeking documents and answers to questions about the decision to first issue the possible furlough notice and then to rescind it. Math Teachers Group’s Push for Identity Politics Damages Math’s Inherent Equity

The world’s largest math education organization is injecting identity politics where it doesn’t belong—and undermining math education in the process. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics told teachers to “regularly and intentionally integrate more equity, justice, and culturally centered mathematics education” in every math lesson in a May 20 position statement, The council argues that math education must respond to the “culture” of students, represented in “multidimensional identities,” including “race, ethnicity, religion, generation, gender, sexual orientation, education, class, occupation and socio-economic status, and disability.” While proper math education, to…

OPM defends rule to hamper Schedule F’s return, backs telework amid return to office push

The Office of Personnel Management is defending a recently finalized rule meant to prevent the return of Schedule F — a Trump-era policy that made it easier to fire career federal employees in policymaking positions. Acting OPM Director Rob Shriver told lawmakers on Wednesday that the return of Schedule F would have a “chilling effect”…

Pro-Palestinian Protesters Block White House, Demand Biden Push for Gaza Cease-fire

It was difficult to hear any mention from protesters outside the White House on Monday about the deadly terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel, as hundreds chanted “free Palestine” and vowed to block the White House until the Biden administration demanded a cease-fire. One group of protesters sat outside an entrance to the White House chanting, “From the river to the sea, Palestine shall be free.” That slogan implies the eradication of Israel. Pro-Palestine protesters actually said “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” It’s not clear…
