The Education Department is trying to make it easier for public servants to receive student debt relief, but the changes to the federal relief program are only temporary. The agency added a waiver to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, in an effort to help more public servants receive debt relief, but to qualify for the program, applications must be in by Oct. 31. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments Jan. 7 in cases challenging two of the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates. Those mandates would apply to more than 100 million Americans who work at private-sector businesses and health care facilities. With compliance deadlines quickly approaching, the Supreme Court decided to step in and schedule an unusual Friday session for oral arguments.
